Over 40 NEO Young Women Participated in the IoT Innovation Olympiad

Armed with an eagerness to learn and create, young women ages 13-18 from all over Northeast Ohio came together on March 13-14, 2015 for the Cleveland Young Women’s IoT Olympiad held at Case Western Reserve University. OneCommunity, BlueBridge Networks and CWRU along with CBC Magazine and OEConnection provided these local girls with a chance to learn, collaborate, and bring forth their ideas on technology and innovation. The Olympiad was held in anticipation of Cisco’s  “IoT World Forum Young Women’s Innovation Grand Challenge.”

This two-day event included panel discussions, collaborative workshops, and more, all culminating in 14 team presentations, pitching their IoT ideas to a panel of judges. The top four teams took home cash prizes:

1st Place of $1000: “Marketplace Shopping App” by Sasha Desberg and Katie Arendt
2nd Place of $500: “Sensor-Based Verbal Communication App” by Alyssa Spencer, Eliana Good and Tarini Singh
3rd Place of $250: “Mood & Anxiety Sensing Mental Health Music App” by Chamielle Burton, Tameka Coleman, Ana Spates and Taylor Nunley
4th Place of $250: “Universal Translation App” by Alanis Chew and Carli Sebest
