DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM MANAGER

 OneCommunity seeks an energetic, creative individual with a growing development background to contribute to the organization’s philanthropic efforts. OneCommunity owns and operates one of the largest and fastest fiber-optic broadband networks in the country, connecting more than 2,000 public-sector sites. OneCommunity also leads programs in the areas of health care, education, government, and digital inclusion that promote the adoption and beneficial use of these technologies, with the aim of advancing the region’s economic competitiveness.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position reports to the Vice President of Development & External Affairs. Writes and edits grant proposals, reports, solicitation letters, & acknowledgments. Researches funding prospects, maintains development calendar, and tracks funding activity through DonorPerfect software. Supports the V.P. of Development & External Relations as well as OneCommunity program staff as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Donor Relations

Knowledge of the donor/funder cultivation process. (Identify/Qualify. Cultivate. Solicit. Steward) Work with the management team and board of directors to secure funding, and develop relationships with key community stakeholders. Support the board of directors and the Marketing & Development Committee of the board. Plan and organize special events for funders and community leaders.

Funding Research

Identify funders that support the mission and programs of OneCommunity. Qualify funders with greatest likelihood and capacity to give. 

Grant Writing and Reporting

Prepare letters of inquiry, grant requests, program proposals and budgets. Track use of grant funds. Prepare written and financial reports for funders.

Program Development

Work with program directors and management team to create program proposals, logic models, and concept papers.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Excellent skills in writing, editing, spelling, and grammar; fluency with AP Style
  • Knowledge of Northeast Ohio’s philanthropic community and nonprofit sector
  • Experience with government funding a plus
  • 5-7 years of experience writing grants and working in a development capacity
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiar with fundraising/relational software (DonorPerfect, SalesForce)
  • Strong knowledge of, and interest in, technology is preferred
  • Must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment, reliable, congenial, and a self-starter
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Capable of meeting multiple deadlines, organizing and prioritizing work
  • Detail-oriented
  • Good verbal and mathematical skills
