OneCommunity has launched large-scale universal services to bridge the digital divide. By connecting people to the Internet and providing access to online tools that improve lives, OneCommunity is turning more Northern Ohio residents into active participants in today's digital society.

Free public wireless Internet access

OneCommunity has developed free public wireless networks across 5 square miles in the cities of Cleveland and Cleveland Heights. OneCommunity also provides free wireless access in Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. In Akron, the Connect Akron project is expanding to bring wireless connectivity to 10 square miles of the city.

Cuyahoga Earned Income Tax Credit Coalition

OneCommunity works with the Cuyahoga EITC Coalition to provide thousands of low-income Ohio residents with access to free tax software and training to file for their Earned Income Tax Credit refund.  Utilizing OneCommunity's network, IRS e-file software, and the Cuyahoga EITC Coalition's personalized instruction, the number of Ohio residents able to access their tax refund dollars has increased significantly. Since its inception for the 2006 tax season, the collaborative effort has grown from assisting just more than 3,000 citizens file for $4.2 million in refunds to bringing $10.5 million in refunds to nearly 8,000 citizens in 2009.
