OneCommunity Announces Annual Meeting, September 10

—Special Counsel to the Chairman of the FCC for External Affairs, Gigi Sohn, Named Broadband Hero Honoree

—CLEVELAND, Ohio, August 8, 2014—OneCommunity, a Northeast Ohio ultra-high-speed-broadband provider, announced its Annual Meeting, September 10 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at  Victory Center, 7012 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland.  At that time, Special Council to the Chairman of the FCC for External Affairs, Gigi Sohn, will receive the OneCommunity’s Broadband Hero Award and deliver the keynote address.

Established in 2013, the OneCommunity Broadband Hero Award honors the contribution of an individual or organization to the use of broadband networks to advance a more inclusive and democratic society.

Prior to her current position, Sohn was President and Co-Founder of Public Knowledge, D.C. non-profit Washington, D.C.-based public interest group involved in intellectual property law, competition, and choice in the digital marketplace and an open standards/end-to-end internet.  She has served on the Board of the Telecommunications Policy Research Conference and the Advisory Board of the Center for Copyright Information.

In addition to the recognition of Sohn’s achievements, the Annual Meeting will honor others who have contributed to the promotion of broadband as well as including a demonstration.

OneCommunity’s Annual Meeting is an opportunity to share our organization’s progress. The event includes network updates, community projects, awards honoring our partners and heroes, and networking with our community.
