Jon T. Elsasser retired from The Timken Company as their Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer in 2009. Mr. Elsasser joined the company in 1978 as a systems analyst in Canton. He held subsequent positions of section manager, bearing operations systems, manager – bearing distribution center, director-president – Timken do Brasil and director – 21st century business project – bearings. In 1993, he was named deputy managing director – bearings – Europe, Africa and West Asia in Colmar, France. Mr. Elsasser was elected managing director – bearings – Europe, Africa and West Asia in 1995 and, in 1996, group vice president – bearings – rail, Europe, Africa and West Asia. Mr. Elsasser was named senior vice president corporate development in 2000 and senior vice president & CIO in 2003.
Since retiring in 2009, Mr. Elsasser has taught management information systems and strategy courses at the MBA level and serves on the boards of several private companies.
Mr. Elsasser graduated Phi Beta Kappa from The College of William and Mary with a bachelor’s degree in economics and from Harvard University with a master’s degree in business administration. At Harvard, Mr. Elsasser was named a Baker Scholar, which is a distinction awarded to the top 5 percent of each graduating class.
